Job summary

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Lead, Structural Engineer (Stress Engineer) to perform aircraft structure analysis using classical methods and finite element tools, develop margins of safety, and lead a small team within an on-site Plano/Rockwall/Greenville setting.

Responsibilities include mentoring engineers, budgeting, and creating bids/labor forecasts while ensuring airworthiness and regulatory compliance. 5% travel to flight lines; secrecy clearance may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with nine (9) years of commercial fixed-wing fuselage structural analysis experience.
  • Graduate degree with seven (7) years of commercial fixed-wing fuselage structural analysis experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of thirteen (13) years of commercial fixed-wing fuselage structural analysis experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Responsibilities

  • Perform classical hand analysis and FEM to predict internal loads and stresses.
  • Lead a small team of stress engineers; mentor and manage budget/schedule.
  • Develop engineering estimates for bids and labor forecasts.
  • Document structural analysis for airworthiness compliance.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to ensure airworthiness requirements are met.
  • Travel to flight lines and work in hangar environments.
