Job summary

The Barn Landscape + Architecture in Hawthorn Woods, IL seeks a full-time Mechanic to maintain and repair trucks, trailers, small engines, and heavy landscape equipment. You will inspect, diagnose, perform preventive maintenance, document work, and coordinate with field crews to support projects while upholding a clean, safe shop.

This role requires teamwork with supervisors to identify recurring issues and improve equipment care. Prior landscaping experience is a plus.

Qualifications

Experience in maintenance and repair of vehicles, small engines, and landscape equipment.
Proficient with preventive maintenance, inspections, service scheduling and documentation.
Hands-on experience with heavy equipment used in landscape construction.
Strong troubleshooting of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
Ability to read service manuals, parts diagrams, and technical docs.
Familiarity with shop tools and safety procedures; maintain a clean, safe area.
Effective communication and teamwork with field crews and supervisors.
Prior landscaping/construction mechanic experience preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent; relevant mechanics training is a plus.
Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements.
