Job summary

Dallas College is seeking a staff-level laboratory support role to provide direct tutorial, training and instructional lab assistance to students and personnel in a supervised laboratory setting. The position emphasizes safe lab practices and effective customer service in a on-site environment.

The role requires the ability to access data, manage records, and assist instructors with demonstrations, tests, and routine tasks while coordinating with campus staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; official transcripts are required.
• Bilingual abilities preferred.
• Ability to instruct and supervise lab sessions.
• Knowledge of lab safety and chemical handling.
• Strong organizational and records-keeping skills.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, prepares laboratory experiments/exercises necessary to demonstrate learning experiences taught by course instructor in lecture environment.
• Assist in the supervision of lab activities to ensure a safe learning environment.
• Provide clerical support to include ordering, cataloging, and maintaining laboratory supplies and equipment.
• Assist in the preparation of reports and correspondences.
• Assist students through clarification of course assignments, lectures, tests and lab exercises.
• Work with students individually and in small groups to demonstrate procedures and use equipment and materials.
• Assist instructor through selection of tests from tests banks, administration of exams, and recording grades.
• May participate in development of curriculum/resources.
• Participate in periodic inventory of capital equipment.
• Troubleshoots minor equipment repairs; may coordinate major repairs with vendors or college repair department.
• Maintain a variety of related records and provide information required for decision making.
• Utilizes excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with internal/external stakeholders and constituents within the Dallas College community network.
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
