Job summary

Nutrien is seeking an Engineer, Instrument & Electrical at our Kennewick, WA site. This on-site role reports to the Superintendent, Engineering and requires a strong background in electrical and instrumentation engineering within large-scale process environments.

You will lead design studies, support maintenance and drive safety-critical control improvements across DCS/SCADA platforms, with emphasis on reliability and process safety. This position is full-time and not eligible for remote work.

Qualifications

• BSc. in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Control Systems Engineering.
• 5+ years of Electrical & Instrumentation engineer experience in fertilizer or large-scale chemical plant.
• Strong understanding of process instrumentation and control loops.
• Experience applying ISA 84 / IEC 61511 functional safety standards and MOC/PSM activities.
• Familiar with PLC/DCS network architecture, Modbus/OPC communication, and control system cybersecurity best practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide electrical design, engineering and related technologies evaluation.
• Lead electrical conceptual studies and detailed engineering design.
• Support electrical maintenance and other engineering disciplines on troubleshooting.
• Develop test procedures, specifications and site standards.
• Lead electrical initiatives and collaborate with operations and maintenance.
• Define control narratives, I/O lists and interface specs for new installations.
• Assist FAT/SAT testing, commissioning and startup of control systems.
• Ensure automation changes comply with MOC and ISA 84 / IEC 61511.
• Support cybersecurity readiness for Industrial Controls Systems.
