Job summary

Fabick Cat is hiring a skilled technician to diagnose and repair heavy equipment, primarily Caterpillar machines, across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatics systems.

The role requires 2–5 years of field experience, high school diploma or GED, and the ability to interpret schematics. Proficiency with diagnostic tools and basic welding may be needed; MSHA certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school education or GED required. Technical, vocational, trade school education or equivalent is also required.
• Two to five years' experience troubleshooting and repairing heavy equipment, Caterpillar preferred.
• Experience diagnosing equipment using laptops, gauges, and instruments in all machine systems.
• Knowledge of heavy equipment, mining equipment, engines and components.
• Basic welding skills and tool usage.
• Journeyman status preferred.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with strong organizational skills.
• Good problem-solving, mechanical aptitude, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose construction equipment repair needs and perform repairs on customer or company-owned machines as directed.
• Repair Caterpillar equipment and related systems (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic).
• Perform preventive maintenance and general machine upkeep.
• Identify faults using diagnostic laptops, gauges, and instruments across electronic, hydraulic, power train, engines, and performance systems.
• Disassemble/assemble components per manufacturer specs using tools and Fabick-provided specialties.
• Occasionally weld; read manuals and work orders; order parts as needed.
• Load/unload equipment from customer-owned or carrier vehicles.
• Comply with OSHA rules and safety standards.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.
