Job summary

The Visiting Research Specialist in Life Sciences at the Roy J. Carver Biotechnology Center will support genome sequencing, gene expression, and microbial profiling, using automated sample prep equipment.

The role requires hands-on wet-lab work, nucleic acid extraction, library construction, and QC of samples and libraries. Ideal candidates hold an MSc in life sciences or related field, with at least one year of wet-lab experience, and familiarity with LIMS and robotic automation.

Qualifications

• MSc in life sciences, bioengineering or related field.
• Hands-on wet lab experience with competent multichannel pipetting and automation.
• Experience with small volume assays, nucleic acids, and robotic automation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare RNA and DNA samples for gene expression protocols and sequencing.
• Perform nucleic acid extraction and library construction across NGS chemistries.
• Maintain automated liquid handling systems for library prep and sample workflows.
• Set up and QC sequencing runs and perform sample QC.
• Operate LIMS and ensure timely data entry and inventory management.
