Qualifications

• Board Certified or eligible in Psychiatry.
• Active and unrestricted license in the state of FL.
• Forensic/correctional psychiatry experience preferred.
• CPR certification.
• Strong skills in diagnostic assessment and counseling.
• Sound clinical judgment, professionalism, and independence.
• Valid Driver's License is required.
• Psychiatrist with active FL DEA required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments to diagnose mental health disorders among the incarcerated population.
• Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications ensuring treatment plans are effective and adjusted as needed.
• Create individualized treatment plans that include medication management, psychotherapy, and other interventions for the correctional setting.
• Prepare progress reports; provide discharge plan recommendations; make case presentations; assist staff in developing statistical reports.
• Maintain up-to-date medical records and ensure compliance with policies, state regulations, and standards of care.
• Maintain confidentiality of inmates/residents and audit records to verify documentation of services.
• Review, process, and respond to lawsuits; provide expert testimony or psychiatric evaluations for legal proceedings.
• Read, analyze, comprehend, and interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations and medical instructions.
