Job summary

MindCare Solutions is seeking a Forensic/Correctional Psychiatrist on-site in Fort Lauderdale, FL. You will manage operations and provide administrative and clinical leadership for mental health services within the facility.

Responsibilities include assessments, medication management, treatment planning, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Board eligibility in Psychiatry and active FL license are required, CPR and FL DEA credentials preferred.

Qualifications

• Board Certified or Eligible (within 1 year of residency completion) in Psychiatry.
• Active and unrestricted FL license required.
• Forensic/correctional psychiatrist experience preferred.
• Maintains CPR Certification.
• Strong diagnostic assessment and counseling skills.
• Sound clinical judgment, professionalism, and independence.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Active FL DEA required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments of incarcerated individuals.
• Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications with treatment plan adjustments.
• Create individualized plans including medication management and psychotherapy.
• Prepare progress reports and discharge recommendations; present cases.
• Maintain accurate medical records and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Protect confidentiality and audit inmate files and treatment compliance.
• Respond to lawsuits and provide expert psychiatric evaluations as needed.
• Interpret clinical procedures and regulatory documents relevant to care.
• Collaborate with psychologists, social workers, nurses and staff for integrated care.
• Provide crisis psychiatric care to prevent incidents and manage emergencies.
• Ensure adherence to applicable regulations, laws and policy standards.

Forensic Psychiatrist - On-Site

MindCare Solutions, is a leader in comprehensive mental health solutions in various settings: clinician owned and operated. We are seeking a Forensic/Correctional Psychiatrist to manage the operation and provides overall direction and leadership for the provision of the mental health services in the facility. This position has the primary responsibility of providing administrative and clinical coordination for the comprehensive mental health care program for the inmates/residents.

Compensation: dependent on contract type/experience

Schedule: dayshift, F/T

Position Summary:

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments to diagnose mental health disorders among the incarcerated population.
• Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications ensuring that treatment plans are effective and adjusted as needed
• Create individualized treatment plans that include medication management, psychotherapy, and other interventions appropriate for the correctional setting.
• Prepare progress reports; provide recommendations regarding discharge plans; make case presentations; and assist administrative and medical staff in development of statistical reports on assigned inmates/residents.
• Correctional Psychiatrist will maintain up to date medical records, ensuring compliance with facility policies, state regulations, and standards of care
• Maintain and monitor confidentiality of inmates/residents and their files; audit files to determine that all services provided are documented; review status of inmates/residents to verify that all treatment and therapeutic programs are completed.
• Review, process and respond (via corporate counsel) to lawsuits; provide expert testimony or psychiatric evaluations for legal proceedings involving inmates under your care
• Read, analyze, comprehend and interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations, legal and non-legal documents, including the processing of such documents as medical instructions, commitment orders, summons and other legal writs.
• Correctional Psychiatrist will work closely with psychologists, social workers, nurses, and correctional staff to provide integrated and coordinated care
• Provide immediate psychiatric care in crisis situations, such as suicide attempts or acute psychiatric episodes, and work to prevent incidents through proactive mental health management
• Endeavor to comply with the requirements of applicable regulations, laws, rules, procedures, policies, standards and/or contract.

Qualifications:

• Board Certified or Eligible (within 1 year of residency completion) in Psychiatry
• Psychiatrist is required to have an active and unrestricted license in the state of FL
• Forensic/correctional psychiatrist experience preferred
• Maintains an active Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification
• Have excellent skills in diagnostic assessment and counseling
• This position requires sound clinical judgment, professionalism, and independence
• Valid Driver's License is required
• Psychiatrist with active FL DEA required
