Job summary

VELTRE ENGINEERING, INC. in San Diego, CA seeks a Fire Protection Engineer to design, analyze, and review fire suppression and detection systems, preparing drawings, specifications, and calculations per NFPA, IFC, and IBC.

You will coordinate with architects, owners, and contractors to advance safety and code compliance. This full-time, on-site role includes site visits, evaluating existing protection systems, supporting permitting and RFIs, and contributing to project meetings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering preferred; EIT or PE licensure in fire protection (or progress toward licensure) is a plus.
• Proficiency with design and documentation tools (AutoCAD or Revit) and strong technical writing.
• Ability to work on-site in San Diego and coordinate with project teams and clients.

Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, and review fire suppression and detection systems.
• Develop fire and life safety strategies and perform code reviews (NFPA, IBC, IFC).
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams and support permitting processes.
• Conduct site visits and assess existing fire protection systems; prepare technical reports and respond to RFIs.
