Job summary

Department of State is seeking a Software Engineer III in Charleston, SC, to support global financial systems including payroll and accounting applications. The role focuses on administering production financial systems, resolving operational issues, and ensuring reliable services for domestic and overseas users.

Successful candidates will possess at least five years in systems development and automated financial analysis, with experience across cloud and on‑prem environments.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of experience in systems development, requirements development, and/or automated financial systems analysis.
• Prefer four-year degree; experience with financial systems is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, configure, install, optimize, administer, and maintain the financial systems in a hybrid cloud/on‑premises environment.
• Support PeopleTools-based PeopleSoft HRMS, Momentum Financials, Power BI, RFMS/D, and BMC Control-M suites.
• Coordinate software operations; estimate resources; assign accountability; establish success criteria; analyze costs, tradeoffs and risks.
• Contribute to system and network design, analysis, implementation, monitoring, and lifecycle planning.
• Investigate and resolve production issues including outside normal business hours to meet SLAs.
