Job summary

SOCOTEC is seeking a Field Technician in New York to perform on-site construction materials testing on road projects and facilities. You will collect samples, execute ASTM tests, and document results to help ensure quality and safety of critical infrastructure.

The role requires 1–2 years of experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Travel between sites is expected, with field and lab support duties as needed.

Qualifications

• 1 to 2 years of experience in construction materials testing, field inspection, concrete testing, geotechnical testing, or a related field.
• Valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle available for transportation of test cylinders and material samples.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and on active construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Perform standardized field testing of concrete, soil, asphalt, and other construction materials using ASTM and other industry-approved testing methods.
• Conduct fresh concrete testing, sample collection, and documentation at active construction sites.
• Transport concrete cylinders and construction material samples between job sites, curing facilities, and the laboratory using your personal vehicle.
• Accurately record and report test results in accordance with ASTM standards and company procedures.
• Inspect, maintain, and verify testing equipment to ensure reliable and accurate field measurements.
• Support laboratory testing activities and assist with additional materials testing assignments as needed.
• Communicate effectively with project teams, contractors, and internal staff regarding testing schedules and results.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by your supervisor or manager.
