Job summary

Clean Harbors in Des Moines, IA seeks a CDL B Environmental Field Chemist (CleanPack Chemist) to handle, segregate, pack and inspect chemical waste at customer sites, labs and facilities. This is a field role, not laboratory-based, with daily site visits and indoor/outdoor work.

You will support HHW collections, lab moves, and packaging according to federal, state and local regs, ensuring safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver’s license required.
• CDL Class B with hazmat/tanker endorsement within 6 months.
• Ability to perform physical tasks and inspections.
• Background check, drug test, and medical requirements may apply.
• Respiratory protection compliance per OSHA standards.

Responsibilities

• Handle, segregate, pack, and inspect chemical waste according to regulations.
• Prepare packing lists, labels, and disposal notifications.
• Inspect storage areas, drums, and labeling for compliance.
• Collect, segregate, and package waste chemicals for disposal.
• Work at customer sites daily; interact with clients.
• Ensure safety and compliance with OSHA/EPA/DOT policies.
• Operate vehicles per DOT and regulations.
• Assist with lab packs and HHW collections.
• Support project documentation and final shipment readiness.
