Job summary

Qualifications

• College preferred but not required; Medical Billing or Coding Certified preferred but not required.
• Minimum two years’ experience in customer care, account management or similar role.
• Healthcare and Auto knowledge is preferred.
• Quick learner with excellent verbal communication skills.
• Spanish language skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Reviews Patient Care Report thoroughly to establish medical necessity and levels of service.
• Communicates with internal/external departments to obtain or clarify documentation.
• Assigns condition codes for transport reasons with high accuracy.
• Maintains productivity standards, especially during training.
• Reviews reports to bill accurately and follow policies.
• Uses software applications to complete pending assignments and urgent requests.
• Attends meetings and education sessions on billing and coding guidelines.
• Contacts insurance payers to obtain patient policy numbers when needed.
• Ensures accurate data entry with attention to detail.
• Follows insurance, local, state, and federal billing regulations.
• Works individually and in teams to complete tasks.
