Job summary

Exagen Inc. seeks an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to support day-to-day EHS programs at our Vista and Carlsbad sites. This role partners with Laboratory Operations, Facilities, and cross-functional teams to ensure a safe, compliant workplace and to drive continuous improvement.

The position is on-site, Monday through Friday, with a focus on permitting, training, audits, and incident investigations. A 2+ year regulated lab EHS background and applicable training are required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in regulated lab EHS programs.
• Knowledge of OSHA/Cal-OSHA, EPA, DTSC and haz waste rules.
• HAZWOPER and DOT/IATA training; current certification preferred.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Detail-oriented with strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Maintain EH&S permits and certifications for programs.
• Coordinate hazardous waste activities and manifest submission.
• Support audits, inspections, and corrective actions.
• Deliver safety training and maintain records.
• Report EH&S metrics and trends for management.
