Job summary

Polydeck is seeking an EHS & Operations Coordinator to act as the primary off-shift contact for safety incidents, emergencies, and employee concerns at our Spartanburg, SC facility. You will support site safety programs, regulatory compliance, training, incident investigations, workers’ compensation administration, and continuous improvement in a manufacturing setting.

This non-exempt role (no direct reports) reports to the US EHS Manager and collaborates with Value Stream Managers to coordinate

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • OSHA 30-Hour General Industry certification.
  • Ability to lead calmly without direct supervisory authority.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication; prioritize during emergencies.
  • Experience with hazard identification, risk assessments, incident investigations, corrective-action management, and root-cause analysis.
  • Working knowledge of ISO requirements and safety recordkeeping.
  • Experience training and certifying employees for forklifts, scissor lifts, and bridge cranes.
  • Understanding of machine guarding, lockout/tagout, robotic safeguarding, machine risk assessments, industrial equipment safety, and automated manufacturing systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead with care and clarity; communicate team objectives, company updates, safety expectations, and critical shift information.
  • Champion safety; reinforce safe work practices and promote a proactive, zero-incident culture grounded in personal accountability.
  • Coordinate safety programs; support training, meetings, inspections, audits, awareness activities, and timely closure of identified concerns and corrective actions.
  • Identify and reduce risk; recognize unsafe conditions, at-risk behaviors, security concerns, and environmental or facility hazards; facilitate risk assessments and preventive or corrective actions.
  • Respond when it matters; lead the initial off-shift response to incidents, emergencies, and security concerns, including notifications, documentation, investigations, root-cause analysis, and follow-up.
  • Support compliance and recovery; assist with environmental, health, safety, ISO, and recordkeeping requirements, plus Workers’ Compensation reporting, claim documentation, restricted-duty tracking, return-to-work activities, and employee recovery support.
  • Keep operations connected; conduct shift safety briefings, communicate maintenance concerns, escape production or schedule impacts, maintain the SDS program, and support the team-member cross-training matrix.
  • Improve continuously; monitor safety performance, engagement activities, emerging risks, and improvement efforts that strengthen workplace safety, communication, and culture.
