Job summary

South College Knoxville is seeking a full-time Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) Faculty member to deliver high-quality instruction across didactic, laboratory, and clinical components in accordance with JRC-DMS accreditation standards. The role supports student learning and professional readiness through classroom, lab, and clinical oversight.

The position requires a Bachelor's in DMS (or related field) with ARDMS certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or related field per JRC-DMS standards
• Master's degree in a related field (preferred)
• Current ARDMS certification in Echocardiography and one additional specialty (Abdomen, OB/GYN, or Vascular)
• Minimum of two years of full-time clinical experience as a diagnostic medical sonographer
• Eligibility to teach in compliance with JRC-DMS and institutional requirements
• Prior teaching experience in aCAAHEP-accredited DMS program (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Deliver Didactic (Classroom) Instruction aligned with program learning outcomes and JRC-DMS standards
• Develop, implement, and revise syllabi, lesson plans, assessments, and instructional materials
• Evaluate student academic performance and provide timely, constructive feedback
• Maintain accurate academic records in the learning management system
• Facilitate hands-on scanning laboratories and develop psychomotor skills
• Ensure safe operation and maintenance of ultrasound equipment
• Assess student competencies using standardized rubrics and skill check-offs
• Supervise and evaluate students during clinical education experiences
• Conduct clinical site visits and liaise with clinical affiliates
• Support communication with clinical instructors regarding student performance and remediation
• Ensure clinical documentation and evaluations meet accreditation standards
