Job summary

Baptist Children’s Homes of NC, Inc. seeks a Direct Support Professional to supervise and support developmentally disabled adults in a supervised living setting.

The role requires working in a 24-hour shift pattern with on-site staff quarters provided during duty periods. Qualifications include CNA certification (or willingness to complete training within 180 days), a high school diploma, valid driver’s license, and the ability to read, write and follow directions.

Qualifications

• Must have CNA certification OR be willing to take a personal care training course within 180 days and state medication exam within 90 days.
• Must be at least 23 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent; reading, writing and following directions.
• No substantiated findings of abuse or neglect on NC Health Care Personnel Registry.
• Direct Support Professional levels require varying experience; all duties must meet paraprofessional qualifications per NC DHHS.
• Christian spirit and a valid driver's license are required.

Responsibilities

• Provides supervision in a home environment to enable residents to participate in community activities and social interactions.
• Provides treatment interventions per the person-centered plan to help residents acquire skills.
• Maintains a safe home environment with safety instructions, fire drills and evacuation per policy.
• Prepares meals as outlined by menus and daily nutritional requirements.
• Plans events and group activities; maintains the required weekly hours.
• Provides transportation for residents to school, work, church and medical appointments.
• Teaches weekly life skills curriculum to residents and supports group participation.
