Job summary

University of Nebraska is seeking a database/ systems administrator to ensure continuous availability of database environments. You will design, implement, and manage database systems, monitor performance, capacity and uptime to meet university SLAs in a 24x7 operation.

The role requires strong troubleshooting, analytical skills, and effective communication. This on-site position emphasizes collaboration with IT teams and end-users to deliver reliable services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS or related field.
• 3 years in database administration, database development or systems administration.
• Knowledge of database administration principles and practices.
• Knowledge of relational database management systems and associated tools.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and identify root causes.
• Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure continuous availability of the University of Nebraska database environments.
• Design, implement, and manage database systems and related management solutions.
• Monitor, analyze, and ensure performance, capacity, and uptime meet SLAs in 24x7 operations.
• Troubleshoot complex problems, independently and with team/third-parties.
• Interact with networking, systems, telecom professionals and end-users to deliver services.
