Job summary

Advanced Correctional Healthcare is seeking a part-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide medical coverage at Clayton County Law Enforcement Center in IA. This role requires on-site work, patient assessments, prescribing within authority, and on-call duties as part of a correctional health team.

The position emphasizes high professional standards, adherence to facility policies, and collaboration with medical staff to coordinate on-site and off-site care as needed.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Graduate Degree and current licensure in the state of service.
• Board Certification and DEA registration required.
• Experience in primary care, corrections, or managed health care delivery.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Perform problem-focused, individualized medical assessments.
• Be on-site at assigned correctional facility(s) on a regular basis.
• Document dates and times of site coverage by logging hours into online payroll system.
• Provide 24/7 on-call phone services.
• Provide back up call for other facilities as needed.
• Examine patients on-site until seen.
• Prescribe medications within your authority and with clinical judgement.
• Review patient medical records and sign off on orders.
• Comply with facility policies and procedures.
• Coordinate off-site care when appropriate with medical staff.
• Attend ACH medical conferences at least once per year.
• Other duties as assigned.
