Job summary

Lincoln Electric Automation is seeking a Controls Engineer to lead electrical design, development, and startup of custom automated manufacturing systems in Bettendorf, IA. This on-site role focuses on robotic welding cells, tooling, and integrated automation used worldwide.

You will design, debug, and validate PLC and HMI programs, collaborate with robotics and mechanical teams, and support startup activities and customer acceptance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or equivalent with relevant automation experience.
• 1–2+ years PLC programming in industrial/automation.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and plan tasks.
• Willingness to operate forklifts and overhead cranes.
• Strong teamwork and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Own control system tasks to meet schedule and budget.
• Design, debug, validate PLC and HMI programs.
• Collaborate with robotic programmers and mechanical teams.
• Debug systems during build, startup, commissioning.
• Ensure equipment passes run-off, safety and quality specs.
• Support continuous improvement and issue resolution.
• Communicate technical risks and solutions to managers.
• Assist on-site startup and customer acceptance.
• Travel up to 50% to support projects.
