Job summary

Lonza is seeking a Control Systems Engineer to design and maintain automation and control systems at its Greenwood, SC site. The role is primarily on-site, collaborating with a global controls engineering team on new technologies and project standards.

You will support PLC/SCADA, drives, and servo systems, maintain documentation, and assist with cGMP validation. The position requires a relevant engineering degree and strong communication skills to interact with plant personnel and management.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills to manage client expectations and project status.
• Knowledge of electrical circuit theory, control circuit design, wiring diagrams and P&IDs.
• Ability to safely troubleshoot control electrical wiring with safety.
• Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and test planning.
• Intermediate project management to estimate software-related work.
• Programming proficiency (Siemens) with knowledge of SCADA, drives and servos.

Responsibilities

• Designs control systems or modifies existing ones from diagrams and requirements.
• Collaborates with global controls engineering on standards and technology selection.
• Supports, configures and updates PLC systems, SCADA, drives, servos, and vision systems.
• Maintains software/hardware configuration data and validation documentation.
• Communicates project progress and issues to the Control Systems Manager.
• Provides after-hours support on a rotating schedule for plant operations.
