Job summary

Powers & Sons Construction is seeking a Construction Superintendent to lead field operations for projects across the Greater Chicago area. You will coordinate subcontractors, manage schedules, ensure safety, and deliver quality from mobilization through closeout.

Qualifications

• Five+ years leading commercial, institutional, or multifamily construction projects.
• Strong ability to coordinate multiple subcontractors and building systems.
• Proactive planning, clear communication, and issue resolution.
• Experience with field safety programs and site observations.
• Experience using construction management software for drawings, RFIs, punch lists.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily site operations and coordinate subcontractors, trades, deliveries, equipment, and site logistics.
• Establish and enforce project safety expectations and address hazards promptly.
• Develop and maintain short-term look-ahead schedules aligned with the project plan.
• Lead subcontractor coordination meetings and track commitments.
• Review drawings, specs, submittals and RFIs to confirm field work meets requirements.
• Coordinate work across architectural, structural, and MEP trades.
• Maintain daily reports, progress photos, and field condition documentation.
• Collaborate with Project Manager on schedule risk, scope changes, and cost impacts.
• Coordinate punch-list, commissioning, and project turnover.
• Provide direction to field staff and maintain professional relations with owners and partners.
