Job summary

Environmental Resources Management (ERM) is seeking an experienced Construction Safety Specialist to provide on-site safety oversight for a pharmaceutical project in Houston, TX. The role focuses on observation, compliance with regulations, and maintaining health and safety standards across contractor work activities.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in construction safety, a relevant degree, and preferred certifications (CHST/ASP/CSP) with strong OSHA knowledge.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of on-site experience in construction health & safety.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field pref.
• CHST, ASP, CSP certifications preferred; OSHA 30-hour construction training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Engage with general contractors and subcontractors as the owner's representative.
• Promote the client's safety culture across contractor groups.
• Identify hazards and influence safe work practices on site.
• Conduct on-site observation of construction activities from an EHS perspective.
• Document EHS activities and maintain required safety records.
• Train on-site workers and subcontractors on EHS requirements.
• Assist with directing safety-related directives from the client's EH&S team.
• Report on compliance with safety procedures and the approved safety plan.
• Maintain safety documentation (orientation, JHA, SDS, pre-task checks).
• Participate in daily pre-shift safety meetings and reviews of JHAs.
