Job summary

American Commercial Barge Line in Convent, LA is seeking a Gulf Shuttle Dispatcher to coordinate barge movements, track load/unload status, and provide real-time updates to customers. You will plan schedules within river segments, monitor barge positions, and work with vendors and harbor services to optimize fleet utilization while adhering to safety and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license.
• 3–5 years of logistics experience.
• Competence in dispatching, logistics or fleet planning techniques.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute barge and boat schedules within the assigned river segment.
• Identify short-term power needs and monitor fleet capacity.
• Provide daily activity forecasts to area managers and confirm plans.
• Communicate boat and barge positions and schedules to customers and stakeholders.
• Enter and update barge release, placement, and traffic data in the system.
• Coordinate port occurrences with harbor service vendors and monitor for exceptions.
• Ensure compliance with company policy and regulations and pursue process improvements.
