Job summary

Tillamook County Creamery Association seeks an Automation Supervisor to lead plant PLC, HMI and SCADA initiatives. You will supervise and train automation technicians, support manufacturing operations and implement capital improvements in a dairy processing environment.

Ideal candidates have extensive PLC/HMI experience, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally with IT, maintenance and production teams at the Boardman facility.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years’ experience in food or beverage manufacturing environment, including hands‑on maintenance experience.
• Experience providing PLC & HM I programming, hardware installation, and software installation.
• Experience performing instrument and control loop tuning and calibration.
• Knowledge of Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC control systems and WonderWare & Ignition SCADA systems. ERP/WMS/CMMS experience desired.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors and the public.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Computer literacy with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and SQL.
• Team-oriented, able to work with staff at all levels and handle multiple projects.
• Strong time management, troubleshooting, and self‑teaching abilities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain control system documentation.
• Upgrade and maintain software tools and applications.
• Maintain hardware revision levels for software upgrades.
• Implement long-term strategy and plan for control systems as defined by automation manager.
• Implement standards and guidelines for plant control systems as defined by automation manager.
• Oversee/maintain and modify programming for utilities, process and CIP systems.
• Collaborate with IT to integrate PLC, WonderWare, and other systems (Ignition).
• Align ERP data with actual process on the shop floor.
• Oversee and maintain PLC/HMI networks; coordinate PLC/HMI communications across network.
• Train maintenance technicians in plant PLC systems.
• Design and implement small capital improvements to PLC and HMI systems.
• Plan long-range facility/process expansions; integrate new capital equipment with control systems.
• Manage selected capital projects; work with outside PLC/controls contractors.
• Lead installation of instruments and control system components.
• Oversee process work orders and ensure timely completion.
• Provide technical support to plant operations; troubleshoot control systems.
• Lead installations and upgrades; develop training materials.
• Present training materials in one-on-one and group settings.
