Job summary

Van Metre is seeking a Maintenance Technician for The Landings at Hard Scrabble Apartments in Columbia, SC. The role works on-site under the Property Manager and Service Manager to maintain and repair apartments, ensure curb appeal, and respond to resident service requests.

Candidates should have 1–2 years of maintenance experience, EPA certification, and strong knowledge of appliance, electrical, and plumbing systems. OSHA standards apply and basic tools are required.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of maintenance experience or equivalent training.
• EPA certification required.
• CPO strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of appliance, electrical and plumbing repair.
• Basic knowledge of HVAC and electrical circuitry.
• Current OSHA, building and safety standards.
• Provide own basic tools and be proficient in their safe use.

Responsibilities

• Assist with directing and overseeing maintenance of the community.
• Schedule and perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and janitorial services.
• Repair property grounds, apartments, and building exteriors.
• Maintain storage areas and materials; manage inventory.
• Perform turnover work for vacant units as needed.
• Monitor safety; address liability concerns and maintenance needs.
• Keep accurate records of tasks completed.
