Job summary

UMGC is seeking adjunct faculty to teach on-site at CSM La Plata, MD for the Accounting program. Courses include Principles of Accounting I (ACCT 220), Principles of Accounting II (ACCT 221), and AIS (ACCT 326). A Master's in Accounting and professional accounting experience are required, with online/higher education teaching preferred.

Salary is commensurate with rank and credits. The position emphasizes engaging adult learners, real-world applications, and delivering structured feedback.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Accounting or a related field from an accredited institution of higher learning.
• Professional experience in Accounting or related field.
• Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education is strongly preferred.
• Certifications such as the CPA, CIA, CISA, or CFE.

Responsibilities

• Actively engage students through frequent interaction that motivates them to succeed and conveys enthusiasm for learning.
• Guide students in active collaboration and the application of their learning in problem- and project-based demonstrations.
• Provide rich and regular constructive feedback with rubrics for assessment.
• Demonstrate subject-matter expertise and connect concepts across the program.
• Provide feedback to the program chair on curricular improvements.
