Palmer Group is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant/Bookkeeper in the Des Moines area to support daily financial operations and light HR/administrative tasks.

The ideal candidate will have an accounting degree, at least five years of hands-on accounting experience, and proficiency with Sage 50. This on-site role offers comprehensive benefits and opportunities to contribute to financial processes.

Qualifications

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting.
• Minimum five years of hands-on accounting experience.
• Demonstrated experience using Sage 50 or similar accounting software.

Responsabilités

• Prepare monthly financial statements and maintain GAAP compliance.
• Monitor general ledger activity and resolve discrepancies.
• Process bi-weekly payroll and manage related taxes, benefits, reimbursements, and retirement contributions.
• Submit payroll tax filings monthly, quarterly, and annually.
• Record vendor invoices, assign GL expenses, and administer accounts payable.
• Generate customer invoices, apply payments, and follow up on AR.
• Coordinate employee onboarding and benefits documentation.
• Support office operations including phones, supplies, and facilities.
• Assist with insurance renewals, workers' comp audits, and year-end CPA audits.
