fab2 is seeking an Infrastructure and Site Reliability Intern for the summer term. The role focuses on building and managing on‑prem backend infrastructure for a fast semiconductor fab, with a hands‑on, near‑hardware orientation and a portfolio of real projects.

We value performance engineering, fast iteration, and engineers who can ship features quickly. The internship emphasizes on‑site work and practical engineering excellence, with an emphasis on learning across systems and tooling.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a BS in CS or CE or demonstrated exceptional software engineering skill.
• Strong programming in Rust, Go, or systems languages.
• Solid Linux, networking, and distributed systems knowledge.
• Experience building non-trivial infra, automation, or tooling projects.
• Interest in systems reliability, observability, infra automation, performance.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve infrastructure-as-code tooling for multi-environment deployments.
• Manage on-prem servers, ensure high availability and efficient resources.
• Monitor system performance across production workloads.
• Design and refine alerting to catch issues early.
• Automate tasks to reduce toil and improve efficiency.
• Implement secret management securely.
• Debug production issues across the stack.
• Collaborate with engineering to meet infra needs.
