Job summary

SpaceX's Starlink team seeks an Satellite On-Orbit Operations Software Engineer to advance the world's largest satellite constellation and enable reliable internet to millions of users worldwide. You will develop software for diagnosing faults on satellites and ground systems, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and help scale operations for 10k+ satellites while ensuring safety and high availability.

This role requires software proficiency and hardware familiarity and offers a path toward

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field or related discipline.
• 1+ years of professional software development experience with Python and/or C++.
• Experience building software that interacts with hardware (robotics, embedded systems).

Responsibilities

• Develop and rapidly deploy software that automates fault detection, response, and workflows.
• Build and improve ground software systems for vehicle state and real-time anomaly triage.
• Develop processes for new hardware versions and satellite capabilities.
• Detect and triage anomalies on satellite hardware and command assets on rotating schedule.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, GNC, network engineers to deliver high-performance connectivity.
• Challenge assumptions and find simple solutions to complex problems.
