Job summary

The University of Iowa is seeking a Supply Chain Specialist for the Downtown Campus to manage inventory, storeroom operations, and receiving functions. This role emphasizes accuracy, efficiency, and collaboration with purchasing and accounting to support hospital and campus services.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, maintaining inventory levels, coordinating with departments, and driving process improvements while working full-time on campus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3–5 years of experience with supply chain logistical processes.
• At least 1 year of supervisory experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in MS Office with emphasis on Excel.

Responsibilities

• Manage inventory to ensure supplies are available for operations and customers with optimal turns.
• Review quantities, outdates, reorder quantities, and min/max levels to maintain accuracy.
• Determine staffing levels and manage staff schedules.
• Lead or assist budgeting and use resources efficiently.
• Oversee receiving and distribution of supplies and ensure timely deliveries.
• Maintain clean, organized inventory locations and accurate product placement.
• Collaborate with Purchasing on backorders, damaged products, and changes.
• Create/monitor benchmarks (inventory turns, value, productivity) and report to Supply Chain Manager.
• Implement and document customer service improvements and rounding programs.
• Coordinate with Accounting to ensure accuracy of item master data.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and assist with related duties as assigned.
