Job summary

Monmouth University in West Long Branch, NJ, is seeking applications for an adjunct professor position in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. This in-person, on-campus role involves teaching 3-6 credits per semester on-site at the West Long Branch campus, with a focus on literacy and social studies methods.

The successful candidate will hold a Master’s degree or higher in Education and demonstrated teaching experience, with preference for state teaching certification.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree or higher in Education or related field.
• Three (3) years of teaching experience.
• Excellent knowledge of research and teaching practices in teaching content (e.g., literacy, social studies, science, interdisciplinary) in P-12 grades.
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student populations.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach 3-6 credits during the semester.
• Develop and deliver course lectures, discussions, and assignments in accordance with the curriculum and learning objectives.
• Provide time during the week to meet with students outside of class.
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment conducive to student engagement and academic success.
• Develop and administer projects and exams to evaluate student learning outcomes and provide grades in a timely manner.
• Provide timely feedback and guidance to students to support their learning and development.

Education

Master's Degree or higher in Education or related field

Three years of teaching experience

Knowledge of research and teaching practices in P-12 education

Ability to work with diverse student populations

Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
