Dallas Independent School District is seeking an anticipated Duty Free Teacher Assistant for Grades EC-5. The role involves supporting teachers with non-instructional duties, assisting in student arrival/departure, and tutoring students to reinforce learning objectives.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, plus additional credentials such as an associate degree or 48 college credits and a paraprofessional certificate.

Qualifications

• Accredited Senior High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A. equivalency) , plus one of the following: Associate degree, 48 college credit hours, pass an academic assessment
• Paraprofessional certificate required from State Board of Certification
• Proficient in basic communication techniques and language
• Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, parents and the general public
• Demonstrated initiative and a willingness to follow verbal and written instructions
• Must possess good writing skills and be able to communicate effectively with students, parents, and employees
• Demonstrated flexibility to cope with the challenges of a rapidly changing world
• Demonstrated willingness to remain current with the latest developments in the profession

Responsibilities

• Assist in conducting intensified learning experience for students in assigned area and relieves teacher of various non-instructional duties
• Assist teacher in management of student arrival and departure time
• Perform supportive tasks for a certified teacher that is primarily non-instructional in nature
• Assist teacher and students in achieving the objectives of the program or activities
• Maintain discipline in the absence of the teacher
• Tutor students individually or in small groups to reinforce and follow-up learning activity
• Assist in filing, organizing materials for distribution and recording information
• Assist in maintaining student records, attendance and files
• Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned
• Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position
