Job summary

The Painter at The University of Texas at San Antonio provides journeyman level painting services to maintain and enhance the appearance and durability of campus facilities, equipment, and furnishings.

Responsibilities include surface preparation, applying paints, varnishes and finishes, and maintaining painting tools and safety practices. This role requires 3 years of related experience and vocational training or equivalent. On-campus work location and flexible hours may be involved.

Qualifications

• Verbal and Written Communication required.
• Microsoft Office Suite proficiency expected.
• Paint Mixing, Matching and Tinting skills required.
• Varnishes, Enamels, Shellacs, and other finishes knowledge.
• Surface Preparation for Painting essential.
• Paint Equipment Cleaning and Maintenance experience.
• Identification and Reporting of Carpentry Repairs needed.
• Strict Safety Procedures knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Prepares surfaces for painting and applies paints to machinery, equipment, furniture, interiors and buildings by spray gun or brush.
• Includes scaffolding erection or rigging; scrapes, sands, primes or seals surfaces; mixes and applies paints, varnishes and finishes; protects surfaces.
• Checks condition of woodwork; cleans brushes and spray equipment.
• Reports needs for carpentry repairs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
