Job summary

Monmouth University seeks two part-time Library Technicians for the Guggenheim Memorial Library on the West Long Branch campus. Duties include check-in/out, shelving, collecting fines, issuing memberships, and assisting patrons with questions at the circulation desk.

Position is on-campus, in-person, with two shifts, daytime hours. Prior library experience and strong cash handling, customer service, and basic MS Word/Excel skills are expected.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
• Experience handling cash and financial transactions.
• Must be able to utilize MS Word and Excel 2016.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with reference questions as able when library is open.
• Check in and out material, issue library memberships, collect fees, and answer billing questions.
• Distribute and retrieve interlibrary loan materials.
• Field telephone inquiries.
• Conduct hourly patron counts.
• Provide circulation services to faculty, staff, students and unaffiliated users.
• Provide information and instruction in use of library collection and equipment.
• Open and close the building and desk operations.
• Verify and update patron records in the library system and manage holds/renewals.
• Maintain and organize the Little Free Library.
