Job summary

The New School in New York City is seeking a Student Worker to support the Screen Studies Production Studio. You will assist with hands-on workshops, operate cameras, lights, and sound equipment, and help instructors deliver practical demonstrations.

You will maintain gear, support faculty requests, charge batteries, label equipment, and flag damaged items for repair. This on-campus, hourly position offers hands-on entry to film production operations within a renowned creative university.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of film production gear: cameras, lights, audio, G&E, and grip.
• Experience at a rental house is a major plus.
• Recommendations for Professors.
• Experience with The New School checkout systems.
• Attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining the gear and props on a weekly basis.
• Supporting faculty requests for technical support when needed.
• Charging batteries prior to classes.
• Ensuring that all gear is properly labeled.
• Identifying damaged gear, and flagging for repair.
• Researching additional gear to purchase during downtime.
