Job summary

Ball State University is seeking a Custodian Relief and Project to cover shifts in the south neighborhood buildings. This on-campus role requires cleaning, maintenance and operation of custodial tasks in accordance with safety procedures.

The position offers competitive pay, benefits, and tuition discounts; immediate start date in November 2026. Willingness to perform physical tasks, lift up to 100 pounds, and possess a valid driver's license are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Must be able to read and comprehend policies and procedures for safety and work instructions.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Must be able to perform physical custodial duties including lifting and moving objects.

Responsibilities

• Clean, renovate, and maintain floor surfaces using mops, scrubbing, and polishing techniques.
• Vacuum, extract and maintain carpeted areas and upholstery.
• Clean and service restrooms including fixtures and surfaces.
• Dust, vacuum, polish furniture and fixtures; change lighting as required.
• Collect and dispose of trash and recyclables; maintain cleanliness of exterior areas.
• Sweep exterior entrances and windows; maintain cleanliness of building fixtures.
• Clean appliances and use appropriate custodial equipment.
• Learn and apply knowledge of custodial chemicals and safety procedures.
• Lock/unlock doors as required and follow security procedures.
• Set rooms according to custodial work sheets and report repairs.
• Assist and instruct student custodial workers as needed.
