Job summary

Cape Fear Community College is seeking a Communication Instructor to deliver on-campus and online courses in multiple modalities, including face-to-face, hybrid, and HyFlex formats. You will prepare lesson plans, develop assessments, and maintain records while advising students and participating in curriculum development.

The role requires a Master’s in Communication, teaching experience, and familiarity with Canvas LMS. Travel across CFCC campuses may be required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of classroom and online instructional techniques and procedures.
• Knowledge of academic program development and administration in Communications.
• Knowledge of assessments in Communication courses (Public Speaking, Interpersonal, Intercultural).
• Familiarity with current trends in Communications.
• Workplace safety and academic records procedures.
• Familiarity with Right to Know regulations.
• Courses primarily taught: COM 120 and COM 231.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom and/or online instruction to students in multiple modalities.
• Prepare lesson plans and develop/prepare supplemental materials for course readings.
• Develop assessments to evaluate student performance and record scores.
• Ensure instruction aligns with disciplinary and Departmental standards.
• Act as academic advisor and provide tutoring outside of class as needed.
• Participate in curriculum development and evaluation.
• Attend faculty meetings and maintain accurate attendance/records.
