Job summary

Shorter University’s Ware School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Department of Natural Sciences invites applications for qualified adjunct/part-time instructors to teach undergraduate biology courses. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong disciplinary expertise, effective teaching ability, and a commitment to student learning aligned with the institution’s mission.

Responsibilities include teaching General Biology lectures and upper-level courses, delivering instruction aligned

Qualifications

• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Graduate transcripts documenting relevant coursework (official transcripts required upon hire)
• Demonstrated content expertise appropriate for undergraduate instruction
• Courses are delivered in a face-to-face environment

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate biology courses such as: General Biology Lectures
• Upper-level Biology courses as needed
• Deliver instruction consistent with approved course outcomes and departmental expectations
• Assess student learning and provide timely, constructive feedback
• Maintain regular communication with students (including timely response to inquiries)
• Submit grades, attendance, and required assessment documentation by institutional deadlines
• Support learning outcomes assessment and accreditation processes as requested
• Adhere to institutional policies (e.g. FERPA) and academic integrity standards
• Contribute to a positive learning environment that supports student success and retention
