Job summary

CVPH is seeking an Operating Room Technician (ORT) to join the surgical team. The ORT will act as the primary scrub person, manage instruments and equipment, and circulate under RN supervision as needed.

The role supports Main Campus OR Services and Ambulatory Surgery Center Endo with opportunities to mentor new ORTs. The ideal candidate will be certified in surgical technology or be a NYS-licensed practical nurse, possess excellent communication and aseptic skills, and be prepared for on-call

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Surgical tech program with certification within 12 months or NYS LPN.
• Pre-employment screening and physical required.
• Basic computer skills preferred.
• Must be able to take call as scheduled.
• Must be self-motivated and technically adept.
• Ability to work independently under stressful conditions.
• Must stand for prolonged periods.
• AHA-BLS certified or obtain within six months of hire.
• Excellent customer service skills required.
• Proof of 15 hours of continuing education yearly.

Responsibilities

• Act as primary scrub person handling instruments, supplies and equipment for procedures.
• May circulate under RN supervision.
• Take call for Main Campus OR Services as scheduled.
• Mentor new ORTs; assist in orientation and training.
• Work closely with RNs on instrumentation and equipment.
• Educate all ORTs.
• Float between Main Campus and ASC Endo as needed; mainly at CVPH main campus.
