Job summary

School Of Science & Technology in Corpus Christi, TX, seeks an On-Call Substitute for SST Corpus Christi Elementary to support daily classroom instruction when the regular teacher is absent. You will follow lesson plans, manage the class, and ensure learning continues smoothly.

The substitute acts in lieu of the regular classroom teacher under campus supervision, maintaining student engagement, safety, and adherence to school policies while providing a positive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution (preferred).
• Experience working with students (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Instructs assigned classes and follows the regular teacher's plans.
• Checks class roll and records absences and tardiness as instructed.
• Maintains routine and meets individual student needs.
• Creates a conducive learning environment appropriate to student development.
• Encourages appropriate classroom behavior and discipline.
• Notifies staff for assistance or medications when needed.
• Leaves a summary of work covered and notes on students who failed to follow rules.
• Supports policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
• Adheres to assigned sub hours and duties; acts as tutor if needed.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
