Job summary

City of Kirkland is seeking an on-call program assistant to support Parks and Community Services events year-round and serve as a primary customer service agent. This position is seasonal, non-benefited, with an anticipated February start and hours typically 15–40 per week, not to exceed 1040 hours per year.

The role works mainly at Kirkland City Hall, Monday–Friday, with occasional weekend or evening shifts for events.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience: 2 years of customer service, 1 year of administrative support in recreation, environmental, social, leisure, or education services.
• 2 years of cashiering or bookkeeping experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides information and responds to inquiries. Staffs front office and provides customer service to participants, staff, and the public.
• Performs registration procedures to enroll in classes, accept and receipting payments, maintain wait lists, transfers, and program scholarships.
• Maintains and organizes supplies and equipment, purchases, and inventory materials; reconciles payments and contracts.
• Responsible for facility rentals, including processing payments, deposits, refunds, and scheduling rental staff.
• Assists with data collection, reports, and outreach for programs and participant engagement.
• Coordinates training and scheduling of staff, volunteers, and interns; provides emergency backup staffing as needed.
