Job summary

Grow Public Schools seeks an On-Call Classified Substitute to cover Cafe Aide, Custodian, After School Aide and Recess Coach shifts at our Arvin and Shafter campuses. The role supports safety, food service, and learning environments under lead staff.

As a substitute, you will reinforce behavior expectations, supervise during recess and lunch, assist in cafeteria operations, perform custodial tasks, and support students with homework as needed. Some roles require Serve Safe certification.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and follow all food safety and physical safety rules.
• Strong communication skills especially when interacting with school age children.
• Exceptional personal hygiene.
• Ability to lift, bend, stoop and carry heavy trays and packages of food and supplies.
• Must have or be willing to obtain a Serve Safe Food Handler's certification.

Responsibilities

• Assists in reinforcing student behavioral expectations throughout the day.
• Supervises students in the yard during recess.
• Supervises students in the cafeteria during lunch.
• Maintains clean serving areas and sets up cafeteria for timely service.
• Peels, slices, cores and dices vegetables and fruits by hand or using equipment.
• Follows state and federal regulations regarding food handling, serving and cleanliness.
• Washes dishes; cleans and scrubs pots and pans.
• Sweeps and mops floors in kitchen and dining area.
• Moves furniture, equipment, supplies and tools as needed.
• Locks and unlocks assigned buildings; secure buildings when facilities are not in use.
• Keeps grounds free from trash and litter.
• Knows and follows all safety rules and procedures.
