Job summary

Coupeville School District is seeking a Substitute School Nurse (RN or LPN) for on-call/as-needed coverage for the 2026-27 school year. The role requires Washington RN or LPN certification, valid driver’s license, and health care delivery in a school setting. On-site duties include health assessments, care planning, and emergency responses.

The substitute nurse will work under the Director of Special Services in Student Services and may train staff and coordinate health screenings as needed.

Qualifications

• Valid Washington RN or LPN certification is required.
• Valid Washington driver’s license and access to transportation.
• Experience or training as a school nurse is preferred.
• Proficient with Macintosh computers to complete work.

Responsibilities

• Identify students with health concerns and develop care plans.
• Assess health and refer for further treatment with consent.
• Train non-nurse staff in nursing procedures and med administration.
• Review medical records to aid educational placement and services.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings for health needs.
• Maintain health records and screening program coordination.
• Ensure immunization compliance for students.
• Provide emergency services on site.
• Identify students needing medical services for referrals.
• Perform other health-related duties as assigned.
