Job summary

Fremont RE-2 School District Transportation Department is seeking a Substitute Bus Driver to transport students safely to and from school and events. You will operate district vehicles in accordance with laws and policies, perform safety inspections, and supervise students while maintaining a professional demeanor.

The role emphasizes on-call substitute duties, adherence to regulations, and effective communication with staff, parents, and students.

Qualifications

• Must possess or be able to obtain a CDL Class B with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
• Positive individual with neat appearance and professional demeanor.
• Proven work record demonstrating reliability, flexibility, and initiative.
• Ability to supervise and safely manage large groups of students, including students with special needs.
• Ability to comply with all State, Federal, Colorado Department of Education, and School District transportation regulations.
• Strong communication skills.
• Knowledge of student discipline strategies preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate assigned school buses in compliance with district policies and procedures and with local, state, and federal transportation laws.
• Safely transport students to and from school and school-related activities.
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections on assigned vehicles.
• Maintain appropriate student conduct to ensure safety and well-being of all passengers.
• Complete required reports, route documentation, and other paperwork in a timely manner.
• Report accidents, incidents, or mechanical concerns immediately to transportation management or appropriate authorities.
• Administer first aid when necessary and follow district emergency procedures.
• Attend required training programs, meetings, and in-service sessions as required by the district or the State of Colorado.
• Maintain a positive working relationship with students, parents, staff, and co-workers.
• Promote a positive image of the Fremont RE-2 School District through professionalism and safe practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Transportation Director or administration.
