Job summary

Vallejo City Unified School District is seeking a Substitute Bus Driver who will operate school buses on assigned routes to transport students and staff. The role reports to the Supervisor of Bus Drivers and ensures safety and compliance with state regulations.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of a school bus driver training course, and a valid CDL with passenger endorsement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of a current school bus driver training course is mandatory.
• Knowledge of California Motor Vehicle Code and California Education Code relating to school buses.

Responsibilities

• Drive a bus on designated routes according to time schedules.
• Pick up and discharge school children on routes and at stops.
• Escort pupils across the street when necessary.
• Transport children and teachers on field trips and athletic contests.
• Maintain bus and motor equipment in a clean, safe condition per state regulations.
• Maintain order among pupils and follow district policies with parents and citizens.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
