Job summary

CPCD is seeking an On-Call School Bus Driver to transport children to and from school and activities, with duties between routes in the classroom. A CDL with P and School Bus endorsements is needed within two months if not already held, and a clean MV record is required.

The role includes pre/post trip inspections, safety instruction, and coordination with families. Salary is $23.83/hour with pre-employment screenings including physicals, TB, drug tests, and background checks.

Qualifications

• Must obtain CDL with Passenger and School Bus endorsements within two months if not already held.
• Acceptable driving record based on MVRO before employment.
• Knowledge of mechanical operation and daily vehicle checks.
• Ability to lift/carry a minimum of 50 pounds.
• Current First Aid and CPR certifications within 90 days of employment.
• Pre-employment physical, TB test, drug test, and background check per standards.

Responsibilities

• Transports children to and from school and activities.
• Remains in classroom between routes to assist the classroom team.
• Performs daily pre/post-trip inspections and adheres to safety rules.
• Uses two-way radio to communicate with department staff.
• Drives assigned route safely and timely.
• Promotes positive behavior and parent involvement.
