Job summary

New Narrative, a nonprofit focused on mental health, is hiring a Residential Support Specialist to work in Portland metro area. You will join a multidisciplinary team to support residents with daily living, skills building, safety, and medication routines.

This on-site role requires CPR certification, ability to administer Naloxone, and independence. You'll participate in team meetings, complete shift documentation, and help maintain a clean, safe living environment.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age and capable of implementing emergency procedures and disaster plan.
• Must be able to administer CPR and Naloxone (Narcan).
• Must be comfortable working independently.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• QMHA credentials preferred.
• Current CPR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Engage with residents to support goals and transition planning using strength-based approaches.
• Ensure resident autonomy and respect for personal rights.
• Participate in Team Based Care and attend staff meetings.
• Provide hands-on support with ADL/IADL tasks and medications.
• Assist in crisis intervention using nonviolent de-escalation.
• Help residents in navigating distress and conflict.
• Adhere to medication management protocol.
• Prepare meals and provide opportunities for skills training.
• Facilitate group activities and community engagement.
• Comply with Oregon Administrative Rules for Home and Community Based services.
• Facilitate fire drills and emergency procedures.
• Complete Safety and Sanitation Checklists twice monthly.
• Maintain health and safety of the house; keep it clean and safe.
• Maintain cleanliness of food storage and common areas.
• Complete shift duties and communicate needs.
• Documentation at shift end: engagement notes, shift notes, EMAR, logs.
• Complete all incident reports by end of shift.
• Update narcotic count during passes and shift change documentation.
