Job summary

New Narrative in Portland, OR is seeking a Residential Support Specialist for on-call shifts across residential locations in the Portland metro area. The role supports residents’ daily living, safety, and wellbeing within a multidisciplinary team environment.

Responsibilities include meals, group activities, medication handling, documentation, and crisis de-escalation. Requires a high school diploma; CPR certification is preferred, Naloxone administration ability may be needed.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age and capable of implementing emergency procedures and disaster plan.
• Must be able to administer CPR and Naloxone (Narcan).
• Must be comfortable working independently.

Responsibilities

• Actively engage with residents to support movement toward goals and transition planning using strength-based and person-centered approaches.
• Provide hands-on support to residents with activities of daily living and instrumental tasks.
• Assist in crisis intervention using nonviolent de-escalation techniques.
• Respect resident autonomy and rights, participate in Team Based Care.
• Prepare meals, facilitate group activities, and maintain a clean, safe environment.
• Document engagement notes, shift notes, EMAR, incident reports, and ensure narcotic counts are updated.
