Job summary

Wahluke School District in Mattawa, Washington is seeking a Substitute Para-Pro/Instructional Aide to support instructional staff and students in various settings including special education, bilingual, and preschool contexts. The role reports to the classroom teacher and building principal, with duties ranging from supervising students to assisting with teaching aids and materials, and monitoring safety.

Starting immediately, compensation is $19.73 to $20.62 per hour, with Washington paid sick

Qualifications

• High School Diploma; bilingual Spanish fluency preferred.
• Experience with children or students in an educational setting.
• Basic clerical skills and familiarity with first aid procedures.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally with assistance.
• Willingness to attend work as scheduled and maintain professional conduct.
• Ability to solve practical problems and apply judgment in varied situations.
• May assist students with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist certified staff to perform instructional and support tasks.
• Supervise students and provide a safe learning environment.
• Proctor tests, quizzes and other exercises.
• Score tests and record grades.
• Assist in developing teaching aids and materials.
• Oversee students in halls, libraries, and transportation areas.
• Handle basic clerical tasks for teachers.
• May assist disabled students as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
